COLTS UPSET BRONCOS IN THE RETURN OF PEYTON

Former Indianapolis Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning returned to Lucas Oil Stadium, this time wearing a Denver Broncos jersey. I had the privelage to go to the game, and it was LOUD. Peyton Manning could not get off his audibles at the line of scrimmage multiple times, leading to a Broncos false start or timeout. Andrew Luck played the game of his career completing 21 of 31 passes for three pass touchdowns and 228 yards, he also rushed for 29 yards on 4 carries and a rush touchdown. Manning and the Broncos struck first with a 17 yard touchdown pass. The Colts responded with a 27 yard field-goal by kicker Adam Vinatieri. The Broncos star Punt returner Trindon Holiday then fumbled the ball and the Colts recovered, leading to an 11 yard touchdown pass. Indianapolis didn't trail for the rest of the game, at one point leading 33-14. The Broncos committed a season-high 5 turnovers. Peyton Manning completed 29 of 49 passes for 386 yards three touchdowns and an interception. Manning also lost two fumbles, which hurt the Broncos chance's in this game. Knowshon Moreno led all players in rushing with 40 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Trent Richardson of the Colts struggled once again, rushing for just 37 yards on 14 carries and also lost 2 fumbles which led the Colts to go with backup Donald Brown who managed just 23 yards on 11 carries. Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas, and Julius Thomas caught the touchdown passes for Denver. Coby Fleener, Darrius Heyward-Bey, and Stanley Havili all had touchdown receptions for Indianapolis. The Colts handed the Broncos their first loss of the season and improved to 5-2 going into the bye week. But the win did not come without a price, as Indy's star receiver Reggie Wayne, who caught 5 passes for 50 yards in the game, tore his ACL and is likely done for the season. The Colts may look to trade for receiver Josh Gordon of the Browns, although don't be surprised if they make an attempt to trade for Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt of the Giants and Titans. The Colts nearly blew a 19 point lead in the fourth quarter, but a late turnover by Manning all but ended Denver's hope of victory. Manning and the Broncos will look to get back on track next week when they host Robert Griffin III and the Redskins in Denver.

Oklahoma City Thunder Season Preview

Oklahoma City is a young team looking for it's first title. Superstar Kevin Durant will be without star Russell Westbrook for the first chunk of the season with an ACL injury. With a supporting cast led by Serge Ibaka and Thabo Selfosha, the Thunder will win their Division, but to become champions of the West, Durant needs to become more of a factor in the playoffs.

Miami Heat Season Preview

The Miami Heat are coming into to the 2013-2014 season looking for a                   three-peat. With back-to-back championships against Oklahoma City and San Antonio, Miami has a great chance of winning a third straight title this year. With Superstar Dwayne Wade turning 31, the Heat will have to rely more on fellow Superstar Lebron James to lead the team. The best player in the league, and arguably the best all-time, James is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. They will repeat division champs, but to win it all they will likely have to overcome Indiana and/or Chicago, just to get the the Finals.

INDIANA PACERS SEASON PREVIEW

Bad news Heat fans: This year the Pacers are back, and they're better than ever. Led by stars Paul George and Roy Hibbert, the 2013-2014 season will also mark the return of veteran Small Forward Danny Granger, who missed the entire 2012-2013 season with a knee injury. They also added C.J. Watson and Chris Copeland to improve last year's historically bad bench. Head Coach Frank Vogel will look to improve late-game foul-shooting, an area in which the Pacers struggled last year. With nearly everyone coming back from last year's No.1 defense and rebounding team, the Pacers have not only a chance to repeat Central Division champions, but to reach the Eastern Conference Finals...and beyond.            

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 4-2 vs. DENVER BRONCOS 6-0 PREVIEW

The Colts vs. Broncos will feature Peyton Manning against his old team, the Indianapolis Colts. The Broncos are favored by 6.5 points but here are some ways Indy can increase their chances of winning:

1. Keep Peyton and the Broncos off the field

The Broncos offense is led by Peyton Manning [22 touchdowns, 2179 yards], Knowshon Moreno [7 touchdowns] and Demaryius Thomas [528 yards]. The most explosive offense in the NFL, they are also one of the best offenses all-time. This means that Indy will have to get the running game going [see number 2], and do short checkdowns to Coby Fleener consistently. 

2. Establish the running game early                                                                                  

The Colts lost running back Vick Ballard for the year in the preseason. They then signed former Giants back Ahmad Bradshaw to go with third year Donald Brown. The duo was not very effective, however, which led them to trade a first round pick to the Cleveland Browns for promising young running back Trent Richardson. But  Richardson has been a disapointment thus far, with just 191 yards on 61 carries. If Indianapolis can get Richardson going early, then they can definitely win this one.

3. Give Luck Time

Star Quarterback Andrew Luck was pressured and hit time and time again in a 19-9 loss to San Diego. The Colts can't let the same thing happen against Denver or they'll be cooked by halftime. They MUST GIVE LUCK SOME TIME.

CHARGERS STUN COLTS ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

SD 19-9 IND

The San Diego Chargers pulled off a HUGE upset and beat the 4-1 Colts Monday night to improve to 3-3. Led by running back Ryan Matthews' 102 yards on 22 carries the Chargers held Andrew Luck to just 6.7 yards per attempt and forced an interception to seal the deal with just 0:48 to go. Philip Rivers completed 22 of 33 passes for 237 yards and 1 touchdown. Colts running back Trent Richardson ran for just 40 yards on 10 carries.
